Important Outcome

1. 4 peer reviewed international journal articles (including one IEEE Antennas & Wireless Propagation Letters) and 4 international conference papers.For Detail, please contact with us.

2.Award from Bangladesh Defense signal Core (In presence of six BUET faculty members including Departmental Head & ARMY officers of signal brigade,Bangladesh). It was an informal meeting towards the collaboration between Bangladesh Defense & BUET for research purpose.

3.Based on our research BUET 06 batch (3 students) has been able to make one peer reviewed international journal (26 page long)& one international conference
paper.

4.There is a virtual research group named- ‘BUET METAMATERIAL RESEARCH GROUP’.So far (27.4.2012), 22 students are working on new Research Projects of Metamaterials (05 batch- 4 students, 06 batch- 3 students, 07 batch- 6 students & 08 batch- 9 students). We think our thesis was the starting point (BUET 05 batch). [please visit the point - 'Areas of Further Improvement']So, we suggest all to visit our thesis at least once.

Major Problems faced

Areas of further improvement / Future work

Too many. Currently, in BUET a lot of groups are working on Metamaterial. At the beginning of previous century, a lot of Scientists came forward to start & progress the new era of Quantum mechanics,Fermions,Bosons,Relativity….in a word- modern physics. We are just standing at the beginning of this century.We believe metamaterial is going to rule. However, too many students are working with metamaterilals in BUET. There is virtual research group named- ‘BUET METAMATERIAL RESEARCH GROUP’. So far (27.4.2012), 22 students are working on new Research Projects of Metamaterials (05 batch- 4 students, 06 batch- 3 students, 07 batch- 6 students & 08 batch- 9 students).They are now working on-

1. Application of Metamaterial in Semiconductor Device (Huge knowledge in Quantum Mechanics is a perquisite. Specially- Perturbation theory, 8*8 Kane matrix model etc. Besides, a good knowledge in Electromagnetics is also required.Three groups and one MSc student are working on this research now).

2.Application of Metamaterial in Optical Fibers ( Good Knowledge in Anisotropy,Bessel Functions,Optical Fibers [BUET 4th yr course in L-4,T-1],
Electromagnetcs & Microwave are necessary. Three groups are working on this research now.).

3.Application of Metamaterial in Patch Antennas (It was the beginning of Metamaterial era in BUET. This project is almost complete. With Our Thesis (BUET 05), u can also visit the thesis of BUET 06 batch. Recently one group is working on this project to conclude an end.)

4.Application of Metamaterial for dragging particles using negative force of tractor beam (probably in Star trek movie you have seen that- particle is drawn from space by sending light towards it. It is the PhD project assigned to one person of this Metamaterial group.This research has started in the world recently (November 2011) after one article published in Physical review Letter.)

5.Application of Metamaterial for Solar cell (Recently in 2012, an article has been published in Nano Letter by MIT research group. No group is working in this project so far. Probably it will be assigned to BUET 09 batch.)

6.Application of Metamaterial for Slow Waveguides and Slow structures (No group is working in this project so far. Probably it will be assigned to BUET 09 batch.)

7.Application of Metamaterial for Extraordinary Transmission (No group is working in this project so far. Probably it will be assigned to BUET 09 batch.)
