Numa Mountain & Floe Lake trail head are down Hwy 93 on the right from Castle Mountain, about 30km from Hwy 1. A two-night trip to Floe Lake and the Rockwall in Kootenay Park, BC, with my 10-year old son. I've read a couple of route descriptions online and am wondering if it would be possible/realistic to hike from the Floe Lake Trailhead to Floe Lake campground and back in one day?

Going to Floe Lake in autumn, roughly the 3rd week of September is the perfect time to search out larches. The trail is primarily used for hiking and nature trips. Floe Lake hike . While Larch Valley (Lake Louise) is slightly (and only slightly) nicer in larch season, the crowds number in the thousands and I have no interest in that whatsoever. Once the Numa Creek Bridge is open, you could camp at Numa Creek Campground for a 2nd night, and make a weekend circuit on this route. Floe Lake Camp via Numa Pass Track .
